One In Every Two Volvo Cars Sold In Singapore Is Now An EV

Volvo Cars Singapore is celebrating a surge in electric vehicle (EV) sales, which now make up 56% of their total car sales.

This is an impressive jump from 40% in 2023, highlighting the increasing acceptance of EVs among Singaporean car owners.

Additionally, Volvo Cars Singapore has achieved a commendable 36% year-on-year growth as of June 2024.

A key player in this growth story is the high demand for the fully electric Volvo EX30. Volvo Cars Singapore recently hosted a special dinner for the first 30 EX30 owners, who showcased their cars in an E-X-3-0 formation.

The Volvo EX30 embodies the idea that small can indeed be mighty. As Volvo’s smallest fully electric SUV, it boasts the smallest carbon footprint of all Volvo models.

Despite its compact size, it has won over 20 awards, including the prestigious Red Dot Award for Best of the Best Product Design 2024 and the World Urban Car award.

Each EX30 achieves an impressive 23 tonnes of CO2 emissions per 200,000 kilometres, marking a 60% reduction compared to the XC40 petrol model.

“We are thrilled to witness such significant growth in our sales and the increasing adoption of electric vehicles among our customers in Singapore. The remarkable reception of the Volvo EX30 exemplifies our commitment to innovation and the environment. As we continue on our global electrification journey, we are proud to lead the charge towards a more sustainable future,” said Corinne Chua, Managing Director of Volvo at Wearnes.

This sales performance also aligns with Volvo’s global electrification journey, contributing to the brand’s main key goal of achieving 50% global sales consisting of fully electric vehicles by mid-decade (2025) and aiming for fully electric sales by 2030.
